Thank You for Following Real World Health Care
The holiday season is in full swing, a time when many of us are fortunate to be able to spread good cheer and celebrate with friends and family. I count myself as fortunate for many things at year’s end, including my new role as President & CEO of the HealthWell Foundation.
This year, HealthWell achieved a significant milestone as a patient assistance program by providing financial assistance to one million patients. For these patients, a grant from HealthWell could have been the difference between life and death, or putting food on the table, or losing their home because of the financial toxicity that comes with a chronic illness. I am truly honored to join HealthWell and I look forward to leading the Foundation as we embark on the next phase in our journey to help another one million patients in need.
Of course, HealthWell is not the only non-profit organization dedicated to breaking down barriers to care. This year, Real World Health Care continued to shine a spotlight on many such organizations and the ways they support patients in need.
Notably, we celebrated the efforts and achievements of organizations committed to “ending cancer as we know it” by participating in the Cancer Moonshot Initiative coordinated through The White House. HealthWell shares their pledge to provide a positive impact on people living with cancer through our many oncology grant programs.
We also spotlighted organizations serving the Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH) and type 2 diabetes patient communities, and we did our best to answer key questions Medicare beneficiaries have about how the changes to Medicare Part D under the Inflation Reduction Act will affect them.

I hope you’ll visit this page often to gain insights from the organizations dedicated to serving children and adolescents, adults, seniors, caregivers, veterans, medical workers and first responders. Until then, on behalf of everyone at Real World Health Care and the HealthWell Foundation, I wish you a warm and festive holiday season and a bright and healthy New Year!
